  • During the day, if possible, it is recommended to stay on campus because it provides workspaces such as the Library, cafeterias, computer centers, copy services, outdoor spaces, all this places are equipped with wireless network.
When walking in public areas
  • Don’t show that you are carrying a laptop, keep it in your backpack.
  • Stay away from strangers, even more if they are in group
  • Walk with one or more companions, especially at night.
  • If someone is following you, cross the street. If the stranger crosses it too, move quickly to the nearest commercial store and ask for help.
  • Whenever you leave, try to always inform your friends where you will be.
  • If you get lost do not ask for directions to strangers, go to an establishment nearby and ask an employee instead.
During your transportation
  • Respect the traffic rules and speed limit
  • Park your car in lighted and visible areas, make sure that the front wheels are fully turned towards the side walk and use the emergency brake to make it harder to tow.
  • Do not leave briefcases or valuables at sight.
  • Keep, at all times, the doors locked. Many burglaries occur at traffic lights and stop signs.
  • Keep the windows closes or partially opened with less than 10 cm.
  • Don’t store the car and house keys in the same key chain.
  • Drive on the center lanes on streets and highways to avoid being assaulted in traffic lights.
  • Do not use headphones to hear music when you are at a traffic light.
At home
  • Place a security chain or lock on the front door that allows the door to partially open and prevent strangers from entering.
  • Install a peephole in the door and enough light outside to see the caller.
  • Place window guards.
  • Do not accept packages or objects you do not expect.
  • Keep valuables in a safe and hidden place.
  • Do not lend your house keys to anyone.
  • Do not give information to strangers.
  • If you see a suspicious person or car prowling nearby, inform your neighbors or the police.
